Please create the ability for a pilot to actually hit the 'RETIRE' button.

Rank Drop doesn't quite fit the bill but is a nice 'in between'.

Perhaps creating a way to QUIT all together should come as an option after the 'RETIRE' button.

If you retire Jedi, what does that mean regarding this:

"Governance
There are three ladder admins. They are required to remain active competitive players."

Just curious, no big deal to me... you could just modify that language to be "remain active regarding ladder administration". No problem with taking a break, I just did, too! So, might just want to update that language if that is the case.

Edit: Also, I have yet to see a retire button anywhere, so I didn't know if that was a feature/option (at least yet).

It's always been a planned feature. I move things up in the priority list when it's clear someone needs them, so I will probably implement it soon.

Speaking officially for the admins, we do feel it's important that admins be active competitive players. If one of them hasn't played any matches for two or three months, the other two will replace them with someone else. It's not a hard line or anything, but we feel it's critical for the health of the ladder that the admins not lose touch with the day to day reality in the mines, and we think a couple months is about how long it takes for that to happen.

A short retirement -- like 30 days -- wouldn't interfere with that at all.

If we can't find someone we think qualifies to be a full admin long term, we may appoint a temporary one until we can. But the three votes directing the ladder will always come from active players.

That applies to even me. If I was out of competition for long enough, I'd step down as an admin and we'd find someone else to do the job. I'd have to stay on as a coder, but that's a separate responsibility. I have both, but the coder doesn't have to be an admin.

At this point I play actively still. They aren't ladder matches but the language doesn't state that it has to be. The point is not to become disconnected from what the community is doing and in need of. As far as also remaining competitive... I can't imagine myself becoming not competitive.

If I walk away from the game all together... Which I am contemplating doing... Then I will resign my commission as Administrator.

I'll throw my hat into the ring to help administrate this community.
