Morfod
(According To His Opponents)
There is not enough room in the database to say everything that deserves to be said about Morfod. An old and dear friend I've visited in all 4 US time zones, master of two controllers, gregarious personality, rustled jimmies, kindness beyond measure, H8 beyond comprehension, shows up for people who need him at any time of day or night, went through the entire ladder without ever getting a promotion challenge even when he got a promotion challenge. Stay salty, The Most Interesting Pilot In The DCL

Morfod, we certainly have some history together on this ladder! I'm glad that we worked through things and became friends in the end. I enjoyed our matches tremendously but I have enjoyed being around you at LANs even more! I look forward to staying in touch and getting together again in the future! Oh, and I've never enjoyed another man's meat quite the way I have enjoyed yours! ;)

I regret that I didn't play you a lot as serious competitors on DCL. I did a bit as you were coming up, and then - when you became truly excellent and interesting, I was already pulling back from the game. A shame. You are one of the most interesting and challenging opponents I've faced, and you've developed so many fascinating tactics. I hope to have a long and productive relationship in legacy.

But as a member of the community, I can say you were the soul of this ladder, perhaps even more than I was. But in this way, I feel we shared a bardic relationship with the community, a visionary passion to build and make it what it should be -- I think I share this with you to a degree I share it with no one else. You deeply understood what this ladder was and should be, embraced it, embellished it, and in the most irreverent unapologetically independent style, which is most appropriate to a Descent pilot, created some of the most DCL additions and challenges and extras that I've ever seen. You are the one person who consistently had ideas for what it should be that I wished I'd had. And you were the one who saw most clearly when the end had come, saw most clearly what it should be. I am forever grateful for your spirit and your vision.

See you next time. I am sure whatever you do will be greater for your presence. Glad you were here. Very glad we loved the same thing and working independently made it great together. It was great and would have been dramatically diminished without you.

I've been sitting on this for a while because... I'm not sure exactly what to say about Morfod other than that he's made the community more fun and I hope it's not the end of that just because of DCL winding down.

But maybe that's enough. :) Don't be a stranger!

A hidden backbone of the ladder. More concerned with the community at large and its health than his skill rating. Vital to us both in the game and out. At the end of the day a breathtakingly creative pilot who prefers the derring-do of the Beautiful Play to the +EV grind.

Hi, Zack...Hi-Zack?

I'll never forget our first time against each other in Obs, Morf. After my first and then-only match in Junebug against a player who was used to Overload, you came in and schooled me twice as much as the Reactor did in that level. I remember losing my composure, but it was a blast in more than the literal sense!

I also appreciate how you immediately picked up on where I aped my username when I first discovered the modern Descent community. And months later, after I heard you say something along the lines of, "Well, I prefer the Hi-Zack myself...", I did a double-take on being reminded of this, and was like, "Yay, a fellow old-school Gundam fan!" So, that was nice.

It's a shame that, since I'm a casual player and only joined so late in the DCL before it's change into the Legacy-era, that we haven't fought *in* the DCL, but I'll remember our Observatory matches, and the couple of anarchies during the DCL party we were in.

Morfod or... Lessfod? I’ll always prefer Mor and I look forward to much, much Mor in our future. Thanks for everything, brother! See you soon!

P.S. #HEDODGEDTHATSHI*?!?!

P.P.S. I hope you know, you’re true family to me. Of the highest order.
